Hi, friends list.

So, okay. I'm being crazy-stupid and doing this ginormous 20K fanfic thingie.

I'm writing this kind of cool and kind of ridiculous story I thought of years ago, when playing on XMM, of a Harry Potter/X-Men crossover. It's a serious plotted story, just... you know, a crossover. Which always feel faintly ridiculous to me on a basic level.

There are beta requirements for the challenge, and I don't have a standard beta-reader. They'll try to provide one, but I know with crossovers, it can be hard. Since I know there are people who read this who are into X-Men and also into Harry Potter (or at least familiar with it), I thought I would ask here if anyone was interested in beta-reading for me?

It will be significantly down the line: the deadline for rough drafts is July 3. Also, this fic will probably be 25,000-35,000 words by the time I'm done, so, um, big. The basic plot is that there's a kid who is both a wizard and a mutant, and the communities end up in contact with each other, and it starts raising questions about the viability of the statute of secrecy and whether there's a natural alliance. Is the mutant community really muggle, or is it wizardlike? How will the triad settle down? It's Hermione-centric.

Anyway. If no one's interested, I will just rely on the mercy of the community over there. I just thought I should give it a shot here. :)

I'm willing! As long as /nothing/ needs to be done before April 15 because my brain is going to explode soon with all the writing/critiquing stuff on my plate before then SRSLY.

The timeline for this is that writing of a rough draft needs to be done by June 28-July 3, and then 2 months of revision time, with final deadlines in September.

I think I can safely guarantee that there is NO WAY AT ALL that I will be done this by April 15. Or May 15. There is, I suppose, a vague possibility I'll be done by June 15. ;)

I'm only at 1800 words now, though, and that's well under 10% of what I'll probably hit.

I might could help. It's been awhile since I did HP, but I like to beta read. I'll be externing at the prosecutor's office (probably) this summer so I might end up flaking out partway through, but I'll try not to!

Would you be willing to look at sections as I go, to tell me if it seems interesting/comprehensible, so I'm not at the end and realizing it makes zero sense?

I am writing Scott/Jean mostly on the X-Men side, and I know you've spent some time in Scott's head. ;)
