I was going to post something long and detailed about my job, but I find I just... don't have the energy.

So instead, I am going to gripe about something else.

WTF is up with these people who are trying to argue that the "nine-month pregnancy" is a myth, and it is "really closer to ten"?

Their argument goes something like this:

"Pregnancy is 40 weeks. A month is 4 weeks, right? So 40/4=10! Why do they say nine?? Can't they do MATH? It's a plot by the patriarchy to belittle our effort."

Here's a fun secret for you all. Pregnancy actually lasts LESS than nine months, for most women. Know why? Because we start counting from the BEGINNING OF YOUR LAST PERIOD. You do now actually ovulate until TWO WEEKS into your "pregnancy". Fertilization is usually a couple of days after that.

And a month is NOT four weeks, you blithering twits. Even a LUNAR month is more than four weeks. If you subtract two weeks from the 40, then divide by the 29.5 days in a lunar month, you get 9.01 lunar months for a pregnancy. Calendar months, it's less.

I know this is a stupid thing to get worked up about, but PLEASE, stop trying to make people dumber and paranoid. Especially pregnant women. A lot of us aren't at our best to start with.
