Sep. 21st, 2006 03:55 pmI would like to note that I am very excited about Deval Patrick. I think he is a shot of what the democratic party needs -- he's a smart politician who treats people like they're smart as well. He tells us the truth in a way that isn't apologetic, but asks us to listen and to understand him. He's ethical and stands by his convictions even when they take him to vaguely unpleasant places.
I like him enough that on Tuesday, I dragged an 11-hour day a little bit longer so I could stop at my polling place to vote for him, and I'll be going back again to vote when he's up against Kerry Healey. He took 50% of the vote in a 3-way primary, nearly twice what his next closest rival managed (27%). He has a real chance, and I think he would make an excellent governor. I also really like the precedent he and the people of Massachusetts are setting together -- that an honest, passionate man who doesn't talk down to us can succeed.
Go, Deval Patrick!
