I really desperately need a way to start recouping the losses that are flowing out from my jewelry expenses. I have around 3434242 necklaces at home, all in sterling silver and semiprecious stones, all of which cost around $20-$150 in a store if you went to buy them, and none of which cost me more than $15 to make (except my new, pretty crystal one, which I love). I tried putting a couple up for sale on ebay, but it costs a lot to work that way -- you're never sure how much the item will sell for, and you need to pay around $.60-$.75 per item to put them up for sale. I'm actually losing a bit of money with each item I put up there if I get the minimum.
I keep thinking about doing craft fairs, which was my father's recommendation, but I've never tried it before, and have no idea how it would work. I can't even figure out how to find them in the area, and that's such a huge investment -- $50-$100 for a booth fee, enough materials to make it worthwhile, and you never know whether people will actually /want/ your jewelry. I mean, I know people I know IRL like it, but... argh. Risk/reward, and all that. Is this worthwhile?
